Also qualifications include chronic conditions producing cachexia, severe debilitating pain unresponsive to prior treatment, intractable nausea, seizures, or severe muscle spasms.

North Dakota's Department of Health and Human Services accepts petitions from residents to add new illnesses to the state's list of qualifying conditions.
